August 25, 2006, Newsletter Issue #31: Buying a Topper vs. Buying a Mattress

Tip of the Week

At some point in time, the debate arises on whether to invest in buying a foam mattress topper or buying a mattress. There are numerous advantages and disadvantages in regards to why a foam mattress topper is better than purchasing a foam mattress.

One advantage of a foam mattress topper compared to a foam mattress involves the ability to transfer a mattress topper from bed to bed. This imparts the ability to travel with your mattress topper, as long as you have the space to pack it. Another advantage of a foam mattress topper is the price. A foam mattress topper costs quite a bit less than the cost of purchasing a new foam mattress. Besides the portability and lower costs, a foam mattress topper also gives someone the ability to discover if sleeping on foam is right for them.

Another advantage of a foam mattress topper is its density. Foam mattress toppers are measured with same density as a foam mattress. However, a disadvantage of a foam mattress topper is its durability. Thus it is possible for a foam mattress to last longer than a foam mattress topper.
